Boom boom room1/5/2023 ![]() He had moved on we were looking back, he was charging forward. The first time I saw him, on a double date with my sister and some beaus at the Philadelphia Spectrum, I remember being disappointed that he played so few of the songs that made him matter, not only to me but to an entire generation. ![]() ![]() Dylan was iconic, but no longer really relevant. I've seen Dylan several times through the years, but those performances were in the 80's or beyond. But his music, his words, told the story, not only reporting on what was happening but also predicting what was to come. ![]() His singing wasn't edgy, it was rough - and sometimes what he was singing wasn't all that easy to listen to. He didn't look the part of the streetside prophet - all harmonica and curly hair and a voice that would never get him through to the Hollywood round. Exploding from the Greenwich Village scene with the strong support of John Hammond and Johnny Cash, Dylan was a force to be reckoned with. (He began introducing himself as Bob Dylan in 1960, once explaining, "You call yourself what you want to call yourself. I didn't know then that the words and music, the sentiment, the anger and the hope all flowed from the pen of a 20 year old curly-haired Jewish musician from Minnesota who entered this world with the name Robert Allen Zimmerman. For just a second, perhaps, we believed that people holding on to each other really was the answer. For a brief moment, we felt we still had the power to change things. So what was accomplished? For a short while, we felt united. No one spoke out for Alaskans, interestingly enough. Tom Selleck, with others, spearheaded a "Hawaiians Are Americans, Too!" initiative. Notably, Senators Edward Kennedy and Edward Markey filed an official protest that the New England states were not part of the chain. Though it sounds almost fairy-tale idyllic, Hands Across America was not without its own protesters. The event was one of several held under the " USA For Africa" banner, though apparently the $20 million raised by this particular campaign stayed stateside. #Boom boom room full(Maybe that's why they didn't charge us the full ten dollars.) Nobody really important came to Cooper River, though. It was reported that numerous celebrities were in the chain - Tony Danza and Dionne Warwick in Trenton, Chewbacca the Wookie in Cincinnati, 50 Lincoln impersonators in Springfield and Kathleen Turner under the St. I guess I wasn't the only one who thought it was important. (Remember how deep everything used to seem, before we became so cynical about it all?) At the time, it seemed important - a legacy passed on from my activist parents to my child, through me. I took my daughter (then 11 months old) and my mother, and we all headed to Cooper River Park in Camden to hold hands with total strangers. Supposedly, people were supposed to pay $10 to reserve their spot in the chain (though I don't recall that happening actually they just passed a bucket around and you threw in a donation).Īnd yes, I was there. Money raised from the event was designated for the homeless and hungry. After all, consider the alternative.Īccording to reports, approximately seven million people participated, creating a human chain that ran over 4000 miles, from New York's Battery Park to Long Beach, CA. Metro 2033 redux multiple endings1/5/2023 ![]() ![]() The gameplay and how your character operates and what are the maximum achievements that you can achieve in the world, are really similar to the first one as well. ![]() This game has also been referred to as Hollywoodish, but it definitely lacks the grit which was there in the first game.ĭefinitely, it is not as bad as a lot of new weapons are also available that are not only effective but really beautiful looking. This decision was made because the game wanted to focus on a wider audience this time and just allowing to weapons at any particular point of time makes it easier to control using a controller. The changes in Metro: Last Light are very significant and the players are only allowed to have two different weapons at any particular point of time. The previous story is directly continued in this game. The second part, which is this part is way more action-based. The first game in the metro game order was survival oriented which is why it is also a little slower than normal action games. In the bad ending, the exact opposite happens as compared to the good ending, where nuclear missiles were dropped heavily in numbers. It was already mentioned that the first game in the metro game order which is Metro 2033 which has multiple endings.Ĭalling it multiple is actually wrong because it has a dual ending. It is the nuclear weapons that is bringing upon the changes in the main character that you get to play.Īrtyom is the name of the character that is in the Metro universe of games. This is because the game was for the first time they realised that the character they were playing in Metro 2033 has already been evolved completely into a Spartan ranger, who has a lot of new skills as well. This was a perfect sequel to the Metro 2033 in the Order of Metro games. The Metro games came back after almost 3 years and this version was originally released for a wide range of platforms. ![]()

Dexture axle actuator arm1/5/2023 ![]() ![]() When energized, the magnet is attracted to the rotating surface of the drum, causing the actuating arm to move and press the brake shoes against the drum. An electromagnet, connected to an actuating arm, is energized by electric current from the brake controller in the cab of the tow vehicle. ![]() At the bottom, an adjuster joins the two shoes together. Quality Control Group Lead (Former Employee) - Fremont, IN - March 24, 2015.The dust cover is removed, exposing the cotter pin and castle nut. The management at the Fremont plant is quite literally breaking the law daily, not just with how they treat their employees, but how their HR department spreads peoples' personal, and medical information. Job was to maintain all precision measuring instruments including calibration, repair, issuing to shop floor and tracking cost of quality in an Excel spread sheet. In charge of ordering quality department. If anyone goes to this plant be prepared for extreme bullying from the supervisors, and expect anything said to HR to be repeated to anyone that will listen. Dexter operates over 30 company-owned distribution branches in 21 states nationwide with thousands of trailer parts and accessories in stock, servicing trailer manufacturers, dealers and service centers. There is obviously no respect for the management because not one person there is treated with respect! HR took a complaint from a woman whom said she was innappropriately touched by a male co worker. The Dexter Axle in Fremont's HR was over heard by many employees, speaking with the male in question, and was talking badly about the woman that made the complaint and telling people what this woman told her in confidence!! Not only that, the person reported already had 3 incidents of touching women and was NEVER reprimanded!! The plant manager claims to have an "open door policy" for all employees, but yet won't meet to speak with anyone about the problems, and the rare times that he will speak with someone he provides no help, guidance, or resolution to any problems brought to his attention. ![]() Dexter, the premier supplier and manufacturer of axles, doors, venting products and related components in the utility trailer, boat trailer, recreational vehicle, heavy duty and manufactured housing markets, has an opportunity for a Plant Industrial Engineer in our Fremont, IN facility, conveniently located near Angola, IN, Auburn, IN, Fort Wayne, IN, Middlebury, IN, Elkhart, IN and. Subliminal1/5/2023 ![]() ![]() Both Coke and Pepsi have been accused of using subliminal messages in their advertising. Although subliminal messages have caused a lot of unease and concern, they are not illegal and are therefore used in various spaces.Ĩ. It is reported that subliminal messages are useful in psychotherapy, where psychologists use them as a form of subliminal communication to help patients recover from associated cases of mental illness.ħ. The New Psychology initially published an article about subliminal messages but was to only become relevant in the Second World War, when a tachistoscope (an instrument used to flash objects/images briefly as a way of releasing subliminal messages) was used to help soldiers identify enemy planes from a short range.Ħ. The concept of subliminal messaging is much older, dating back to 1897. Despite the fact that there was little evidence proving the effectiveness of subliminal techniques, the FCC still held on to the belief that they were still “contrary to public interest.”ĥ. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) held hearings and denounced subliminal advertising as deceitful and as an act against public interest and, in January 1974, it banned audio and visual subliminal advertising.Ĥ. Subliminal Seduction, a 1973 book, induced a climate of fear among the public when it proclaimed that subliminal techniques were all over advertising. Apparently, according to Vicary, the subliminal visual cues increased Coca-Cola sales by 18.1% and resulted in a further 57.8% spike in popcorn sales.ģ. Subliminal movie#In the summer of 1957, James Vicary experimented with subliminal visual cues during a film screening of the movie Picnic, flashing words like “Drink Coca-Cola” and “Hungry? Eat Popcorn!” every 5 seconds for 1/3000th of a second (said to be below the threshold of conscious perception). The idea of subconscious messaging in advertising was introduced by the author as a technique that influences consumers.Ģ. The 1957 publication of a book by Vance Packard titled The Hidden Persuaders, stamped the concept of subliminal messaging on public consciousness. Here are ten interesting facts about subliminal messaging:ġ. There’s a lot that we may have missed when it comes to subliminal messages, and there are some interesting facts that we all need to know as we welcome more research and revelations that will hopefully put us at ease and, at very best, help us in creating and increasing awareness for our brands. ![]() The good news is that scientific research continues in this area, looking closely at the characteristics of subliminal messaging, its strength (or lack thereof) in increasing brand awareness and, importantly, which part of the mind it triggers and its successes when used correctly. As suspicions regarding subliminal messaging continue to do the rounds, it has been suggested that traces of it can be found in advertising, including political broadcasts that are used for propaganda. Perhaps this is why many people are uncomfortable with the idea of subliminal messaging, it comes across as a ‘spiritual force’ with no boundaries this also suggests that deeper or undiscovered parts of the mind perceive subliminal messages, whether sound or image. ![]() They may not be visible to the conscious mind but, in unimaginable ways, they affect the subconscious mind. ![]() Subliminal messages are designed to function through appealing to the subconscious mind, either visually or auditory, but their reach is within human perception. Over the years, studies have revealed that people can consume information that influences their decisions and actions without being aware of the fact that their perception is being manipulated. Companies such as Coca Cola and Disney have been accused of incorporating subliminal messages in their advertising, but it would appear that not many people know what subliminal messaging is and whether it works or not. People hold different views when it comes to the purpose, authenticity and power of subliminal messages. Subliminal messaging has been viewed with much suspicion since the concept surfaced in 1957 some hold the view that brands control our minds unknowingly while others dismiss the existence of subliminal messaging completely, particularly in advertising and branding. ![]()

Daisydisk mac free1/5/2023 ![]() ![]() However, the system often delays updating the size of the purgeable space by few minutes.ĭuring this delay, you may temporarily see the hidden space being “borrowed” by the equal amount.ĭaisyDisk will automatically refresh (without rescanning) the numbers or hidden and purgeable space after the system updates them globally. When you delete a file or folder and Time Machine is turned on, the system may not delete the files entirely, but move them to the purgeable space,Ĭausing it to grow by the corresponding amount.Usually this space is used by the file system itself. Note that some small amount of hidden space (a few GB) may still remain even after scanning as administrator. And in reverse, some other folders will grow in size correspondingly, and restricted files and folders will become visible here and there on your disk. The hidden space should disappear, or become significantly smaller by size. ![]() This approach is recommended in Apple's official WWDC 2018 video which mentions DaisyDisk as an example (begin at 9:22). Twilight zone helicopter crash1/5/2023 ![]() ![]() Various other camera and special effects crew members knew. How many people knew how dangerous the explosives and their placement were? The helicopter pilot Dorcey Wingo did and was angered when an earlier shot featuring explosives endangered his copter. ![]() Elaborate precautions were taken, including asking the parents of the children to insist that they and their children were only friends of Folsey visiting the set. If Tice had seen the children that night, he would have shut down the shoot immediately. In fact, House was alarmed to find a fire safety officer on set, Jack Tice, who also sometimes worked as a certified teacher-welfare worker responsible for the safety of children working on the set. Second Assistant Director Anderson House knew. Executive Producer Frank Marshall (working closely with another Executive Producer, Steven Spielberg) certainly knew about the children and signed a check for $2000 to pay the parents $500 per child in cash per each night of filming. How many people involved in the production knew it was illegal to have these children on the set at night? An attempt was made to keep it a secret from anyone at Warner Bros., the studio producing the film, who might have shut down the scene had they learned it. TWILIGHT ZONE HELICOPTER CRASH TRIAL(My short overview relies solely on information from the book, Outrageous Conduct: Art, Ego and the Twilight Zone Case, by Stephen Farber and Marc Green,1988/Ballantine Books, a detailed account of the accident, its aftermath and the manslaughter trial of those accused.) Both children were reportedly eager to participate, clearly excited at being in a movie. Folsey had been considering other children, but he thought these two might be most suitable for the scene and he brought the children to director John Landis on location a week before the filming of this scene and he’d approved them on the spot. Daniel Le, who thought his son, Myca, might be interested. Harold Schuman, who had called his friend Peter Chen, who recommended his niece, Renee, and put Schuman in touch with his brother Mark Chen. Associate producer George Folsey had done the recruiting, asking for help from a Dr. The parents of the children insisted that they’d never been told there would be explosions and a helicopter in the scene with them and the dangers inherent in such a situation. The children had been recruited for this scene and their parents paid in cash because it was illegal under California law to have children working at night without a special permit. TWILIGHT ZONE HELICOPTER CRASH FULLThe other parents, Kim-Hoa Le, mother of Myca, and Mark Chen, father of Renee, had attended the filming the night before and had to work a full day afterwards, so they opted not to join them the second night when the tragedy occurred. Daniel Le, father of Myca, and Shyan-Huei Chen, mother of Renee. Two of them were on the set that night and watched the horror unfold in front of their eyes. Whenever this tragedy is recalled, usually only Vic Morrow is mentioned, sometimes accompanied by the phrase, “and two children.” The children had names and they had parents who have names also. At 2:20AM, “Action!” was called, the explosions went off and shook the copter so badly that it crashed into the river killing Morrow and the children, a six-year-old girl, Renee Chen, born in Taiwan, and a seven-year-old boy, Myca Dinh Le, the son of parents born in Vietnam. Instead of using a stunt double and two dummies, the director insisted that Morrow film the scene with the two children actually in his arms in a shot that would include the helicopter and the explosions. Actor Vic Morrow was playing a soldier who has to cross a river carrying two Vietnamese orphans in his arms while a helicopter is shooting at him and explosions are going off around him. production being filmed at Indian Dunes, California. Forty years ago, in the early hours of July 23, 1982, a horrible, preventable tragedy occurred on the outdoor set of TWILIGHT ZONE: THE MOVIE, a Warner Bros. ![]() |
